Teenage Car Insurance – What is the Most Suitable Insurance Coverage For Teenagers?

March 18th, 2010 by admin

A liability type of insurance is the best for teenagers since it has the best rates that are suitable for teens. Even teenagers have the right to be insured, actually it is more important for teens to have car insurance since they are inexperienced in driving a car. Car insurance will be the one to help teens just in case they are involved in an accident.

It would be hard for their part when they get involve in an accident because they might not have a permanent job or no job at all to provide financial assistance to repair their car or any other damage. This car insurance plan (liability type) will help teenagers in times of trouble during accidents.

There are different types of coverage that an insurance policy can cover. It is applicable to all drivers who own a car and who doesn’t own a car. Here is a list.

Medical, uninsured motorist, collision, comprehensive, liability, gap coverage, towing and labor and rental reimbursement.

In this list above a teenager should choose the liability type of insurance. It can protect the insurer from any problems the teenage driver will have during driving especially during accidents and disasters. This type of coverage is a good one for a teenager and is cheap as well. A comprehensive policy can also be an option but it is not that recommended for those who cannot afford it because the premium is high.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the teenagers fault or the other drivers fault in an accident, the insurance policy will still cover all the damages but for a teenage driver the cost of this type of policy can be more than they paid for the car.

With regards to the affordability of the liability type of insurance policy, it would cost a teenager anywhere from $500 – $3000 annually (depending on what insurance company and what terms are included). If you want to save on insurance expenses for your teenage son or daughter, you can include them to your own insurance policy.

Before that happens, you have to inform your insurance company that you have plans of doing that. If you will fail to do that and this may push your own policy up because you have an inexperienced driver on it. The best bet is to get a cheap cover by searching on the internet and find the cheapest cover available.
